- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt

For the Tempering:
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
- 1-2 green chilies, slit
- 8-10 curry leaves
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon sugar
For Garnishing:
- 2 tablespoons fresh coriander, chopped
- 1 tablespoon grated coconut
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Batter
Step 2: Steam the Dhokla
- Grease a plate or dhokla tray with oil.
- Pour the batter into the tray and spread evenly.
- Steam in a steamer or pressure cooker (without a whistle) for 15-20 minutes on medium heat.
- Check by inserting a toothpick—if it comes out clean, the dhokla is ready.
- Allow it to cool slightly before cutting into square or diamond shapes.
Step 3: Prepare the Tempering
- Heat oil in a small pan.
- Add mustard seeds and let them crackle.
- Add sesame seeds (if using), green chilies, and curry leaves. Sauté for a few seconds.
- Add water and sugar, then pour this tempering evenly over the dhokla.
